Nvidia has officially acknowledged the next-generation ION graphics, infamously known as ION 2 at the CeBIT expo. It’s a discrete GPU that attaches via a PCI Express slot and supports Intel’s latest Pine Trail CPUs. Nvidia touts the next-gen ION is able to crank out graphics 10 times faster and has a huge 10 hours battery life thanks to integration of Nvidia’s Optimus technology that switches to integrated GPU while handling light processes.
There are 30 products expected ranging from netbooks to desktops to add-in cards to be launched by this summer. The first few products to make an entry are Acer’s Aspire One 532G, Asus Eee PC 1201PN, EeeTop 2010PNT and Lenovo C200 AIO.

Really excited to see Nvidia making smarter chips day after day. I only have a feeling that the GPU market also needs serious attention since many did not like the 300 series cards that much.
