In an attempt to gain half the market share in compact camera segment, Sony India has launched a slew of cameras ranging in the entry-, mid- and high-level categories. Starting with the most affordable is the introduction of two cameras under S series – S2000 and S2100. The 10.1MP S2000 features 3x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD screen whereas S2100 ups with 12.1MP sensor, 3x optical zoom and 3-inch LCD. Apart from the megapixel count and LCD size, rest of the features are same. Both enjoy Intelligent Auto Mode that automatically adjusts various settings for a perfect picture, face detection and image stabilizer. The S2000 will be available for Rs. 6,990 and S2100 for Rs. 7,990.
The mid-range W series added six new cameras – W310, W320, W350, W360, W370 and W380. All the new W series cameras are spec’d almost similarly with the differences in the optical zoom department for W370 (7x) and W380 (5x), lower MP count for W310 (12.1MP) and HD video recording for cameras after model W350. As for the common features, the cameras are equipped with Bionz imaging processor, Sweep Panorama feature that takes panoramic pictures of up to 270 degrees, high ISO sensitivity, Smile Shutter, Smile Detection and more. The new W series cameras price ranges from Rs. 8,990 to Rs. 14,990.
Finally, the powerful TX7 from T series. Sony claims it as the smallest and the thinnest camera to capture full HD video with a 25mm wide-angle lens. It can take still pictures at up to 10.2 megapixel resolution and boasts Exmor R sensor that helps to take better pictures in low-light conditions. Rounding up the feature set is Face detection, up to ISO 3200 sensitivity, SteadyShot, various scene modes and 3.5-inch touchscreen display. Sony India will sell the TX7 for Rs. 22,990.
