Despite the ongoing tension between China and Google that delayed couple of Android phones this week, Lenovo’s Android powered LePhone will be unaffected. This revelation came from China Unicom’s CEO Yang Yuanqing at a shareholders’ meeting where he confirmed that Lenovo’s LePhone will be launched on their network.
Being an open-source OS, Android shouldn’t face much problem but apparently it’s the inclusion of various Google services that can hamper its acceptance in China. Yang however, refrained from confirming if LePhone will include Google services but said the phone would have icons of major Chinese websites.
LePhone will hit the retail shelves in May and features a 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 3MP camera, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.5mm headphone jack and supports an optional physical QWERTY keyboard.
