We heard few murmurs about Asus’ Eee Reader last month and now the things look more concrete. Times UK has got some meaty details of Asus’ iteration of the e-book reader that clearly matches the description of the dual screen concept shown at CeBIT this year. Asus’ Eee Reader will feature dual color screens with hinges that tries to mock a real book. However, unlike other e-book readers who can only do one thing, Eee Reader will be multi-faceted – like making one screen work as a virtual keypad while other can be used as a normal display, view webpages and will have speakers, webcam and mic to carry video conferencing.
Just like its low-cost notebooks, Asus is also aiming to provide the advantages of e-book reading on the cheap. Asus is trying to squeeze the price under £100 ($164) mark.
To cater to the high-end e-book market, Asus will also bring a premium Eee Reader equipped with 3G and other bells and whistles.
Expect the Eee Reader to be official by the end of the year.
