Intel has tied up with AOC, Gigabyte, iBall and Seagate to bring a nettop that could be assembled by its channel partners under their own brand name. The strategy will make Intel to cash in on the reputation of the channels enjoyed by them in their respective regions. With the device targeted at the first time buyers, we are looking at a nettop priced around Rs. 12,000 – Rs. 15,000.
Intel will supply 1.6GHz Atom 230 processors while its other partners will provide other goods. AOC to supply 15-inch CRT displays, Gigabyte with its GA-GC230D mobo, iBall responsible for the chassis and Seagate to provide Barracuda 7200 HDDs.
They have not mentioned if the above price factors a monitor too, but one thing’s for sure, it will bring in a wave of cheap nettops that will take on Asus and MSI’s somewhat expensive offerings.
