The spat between Nvidia and Intel has heated up. In a move to counter Intel’s case filing, the GPU maker has countersued Intel for breaching the chipset licensing contract. They claim the agreement is still valid for newer memory controller integrated CPUs including Nehalem and are also seeking to bar Intel from accessing Nvidia’s patent portfolio.
Nvidia says Intel drew the first blood and they are looking to finish it.
“NVIDIA did not initiate this legal dispute but we must defend ourselves and the rights we negotiated for when we provided Intel access to our valuable patents. Intel’s actions are intended to block us from making use of the very license rights that they agreed to provide.”
