Dell has unwrapped Latitude XT2 that touts to be the industry’s first multi-touch enabled tablet PC. The 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen takes multi-touch commands from fingers as well as included EM Digitizer pen. The base configuration starts from $2,399 and makes the tablet look underpowered because of Windows Vista being run on a 1.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 1GB RAM. The stock config also consists of 8X DVD burner, 80GB HDD, Wi-Fi, onboard Intel graphics and 4-cell battery.
Escalating further will give options of a 1.4GHz processor, 64GB SSD, up to 5GB DDR3 RAM, 24X DVD burner, 802.11b/g/n, 6-cell battery and different security tools.

Well, don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing computer (I’ve always wanted a write-able screen laptop) but it’s missing some core components that make a great PC (in the sense of a personal computer, not defining PC vs. laptop). When someone wants a laptop to use personally, they want one with a lot of memory, to store videos, pictures, and tons of music (I know I do). So let’s face it: 80GB is not enough, and neither is 64GB. My laptop right now, which is a Dell Inspirion 1501 (not made anymore, by the way), has 64GB as well, and it’s just not enough for all my stuff. But, if you’re a business, this size might be wonderful, especially if you have Novell hosting your applications on a server. Other than the hard drive space issues, the computer looks amazing, and since it’s Dell, well it’s more than amazing – it’s a computer you’ll actually want to use. And, to the author of the post, sorry to put such a long comment to such a short post.
