At CEATEC, TDK revealed a new drive which makes Toshiba’s 1.8-inch drive a thing of the past. Because of the TMR head it uses, the TDK drives are able to store a whopping 260GB of data with a surface record density of 803 gigabits per square inch. That’s more than 400 gigabits per square inch from Toshiba’s offering.
The official release can be delayed because the research team is working further to achieve the surface record density to go up to 1 Terabit.
