What They Play is carrying out a story which claims Nintendo to be working on a Wii successor dubbed as Wii HD, a true successor with HD capability, extra storage space and not a mere refresh. They came to this conclusion after citing various sources from the gaming industry that Nintendo has already shown their ‘under construction’ console to game developers in an early presentation. Another notable point raised by them is the fact that the R&D expenditure of the Japanese company has seen a more than three-fold increase to $370 million from its launch in 2006 which stood at $103 million.
Nintendo has already won the first round of the current gen consoles and to win the second round, they might need more than motion-sensing games. Will Wii HD be the one? Or they need much more?
