Pixel 9a

Google has officially unveiled its latest addition to the popular A-series lineup, the Pixel 9a. The new smartphone brings Google’s AI capabilities to a more accessible price point while maintaining many premium features found in its flagship counterparts.

The Pixel 9a continues Google’s tradition of delivering high-value smartphones at mid-range prices. Powered by the same Tensor G4 chip found in the premium Pixel 9 series, the 9a offers identical AI performance at a significantly lower cost.

The Pixel 9a features an impressive camera system that leverages Google’s computational photography expertise:

– 48-megapixel main sensor with improved low-light performance
– 13-megapixel ultrawide lens with 120-degree field of view
– Enhanced Night Sight capabilities
– Real-time HDR+ processing

The phone also includes AI-powered editing tools previously exclusive to premium models, including Magic Eraser, Best Take, and the new Smart Compose feature for photo captions. It has a 13-megapixel front camera for selfies. The camera supports Night sight, macro, super res up to 8x, astrophotography, portrait mode.

The Pixel 9a features a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, providing smooth scrolling and responsive touch interactions. The display supports HDR10+ content and reaches a peak brightness of 2.700nits, making it easily visible even in bright outdoor conditions.

Design-wise, the 9a maintains Google’s recognizable aesthetic with a refined camera bar, albeit that is infused in the body without any bumps. It comes in four colors: Porcelain, Obsidian, Bay, and Peony.

Google claims the Pixel 9a can last “well beyond a day” on a single charge thanks to its 5,100mAh battery and power-efficient Tensor G4 chip. The phone supports 45W wired charging, bringing flagship charging speeds to the A-series for the first time.

The Pixel 9a ships with Android 15 and includes seven years of guaranteed software and security updates. Notable AI features include:

– Enhanced Call Screen with context-aware responses
– Live Translate in more languages
– Circle to Search integration
– Improved Recorder app with automatic speaker labels
– Gemini AI assistant integration

Google Pixel 9a will be sold in two storage variants in India: 8 GB/128 GB and 8 GB/256 GB starting at Rs.49,999.
