Apple-owned Beats today announced the Powerbeats Pro 2 earphones. It builds on the previous model and now comes with heart rate monitoring, which can be tracked during workouts.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 is geared towards people with an active lifestyle and is now 20% lighter than its predecessor. It has an IPX4-rated exterior making it resistant to sweat and water and features a redesigned earhook with nickel titanium alloy for a better, comfortable fit.
On the audio side, Apple brings Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking for immersive audio, Active Noise Cancelling technology to tune out noises or Transparency mode to listen around, and Adaptive EQ.
Powerbeats Pro 2’s unique selling feature is the heartrate monitoring that claims to relay real-time data during workouts. The LED optical sensors integrated in the earphones pulsate over 100 times per second to measure blood flow and show the real-time reading on apps like Nike Run Club, Open, Ladder and more.
The earphones are powered by the same Apple H2 chip that powers the AirPods Pro 2, which means you can expect up to 45 hours of battery life with the charging case or up to 10 hours of playback in one-go.
Powerbeats Pro 2 goes on sale this week at a price of $249.99 in the United States or Rs. 29,900 if you live in India.
