BREAKING: Apple announces the iPhone SE as iPhone 16e. Click here to read more.
Apple plans to announce the refreshed iPhone SE model as early as next week, claims a new Bloomberg report. According to Mark Gurman’s sources, — who are generally spot on with the information — Apple will not hold a launch event but rather have a soft launch, announcing directly on the website.
The new iPhone SE is expected to go on sale later this month and will be the last iPhone to move from the infamous Home button, which Apple introduced with the very first iPhone in 2007. With the Home button gone, the iPhone SE will also move on from Touch ID and bring the Face ID, a staple of the numbered and the Pro series iPhones for years now.
The report also mentions that this iPhone SE will be the first one to sport the USB-C port, enabling Apple to re-enter the European market after they were forced to withdraw non-USB-C devices from the EU market due to non-compliance with the local regulations.
The new device is also rumored to integrate Apple’s first in-house cellular modem, — replacing a key component from Qualcomm — a larger display and an A18 chip to support Apple Intelligence features.
As for the price, Apple could sell the phone at a higher price than the current iPhone price but still maintain it under the $500 range.
