With security concerns rising over private chat messages, it’s best to protect your WhatsApp account. iPhone users have been able to protect their conversation with face unlock for quite some time, but there is no native implementation for Android devices. Until now, that is. WhatsApp has enabled the option for Android users to protect their chats via fingerprint authentication and it’s very easy to implement. Here’s our handy guide that will show you how to protect your WhatsApp chat from unauthorised access with your fingerprint.
For this, you’ll obviously need an Android device with fingerprint sensor – in-display or physical fingerprint sensor and update the WhatsApp from the Play Store to the latest version. Finally, you should also enroll your finger/s for unlocking the device.
Step 1
Open WhatsApp and click the three dots on the left side next to the search icon.
Step 2
Click Settings
Step 3
Go to Account
Step 4
Select Privacy
Step 5
In the Privacy option, select Fingerprint lock and enable the same
You can also select if you want to lock WhatsApp immediately or after 1 minute or 30 minutes. That’s it, once done your WhatsApp messages are now secured and cannot be opened without your fingerprint access.
