Jio will be recovering the IUC charges for calls made to Non-Jio networks. The current IUC charge as per TRAI is 6 paise per minute, starting today Jio will levy a 6 paise charge to its customers calling to Vodafone-Idea or Airtel networks. Calls made to Jio or a landline number remains unaffected by this. Also, voice calls using WhatsApp or Facetime are not included in this. The IUC charges will also be applicable for Postpaid users and will be added in the monthly bills.
As a way to offset the losses, Jio has taken this step. However, to make good, Jio is offering equivalent data on recharge IUC top-up vouchers till such time that TRAI moves to Zero termination charge regime (January 2020). This will basically offset the charge against the free data.
