In Munich, Huawei unveiled its latest flagship series, the Mate 30. The Mate 30 series runs on Kirin 990 5G SoC by Huawei’s HiSilicon. This processor features an integrated 5G modem on the same chip using the 7nm+ EUV process. The Mate 30 series features three phones, the Mate 30 Pro (5G), Mate 30 Pro and Mate 30. All these phones run EMUI10.
The phones feature a narrow notch and the thinnest of bezels. The Huawei Mate 30 Pro features the Huawei’s Horizon Display that curves at an angle of 88-degrees to maximise the display area and offers edge-to-edge immersive viewing experience. It also introduces the side-touch interaction the replaces the physical volume buttons with virtual ones. Being driven by software, one can customise the placement of the volume button on the right side or left side of the phone. For security, the Mate 30 features 3D Face Unlock and in-screen Fingerprint sensor.
At the rear, Huawei has housed the cameras in a ring design. The Mate 30 comes with what Huawei calls SuperSensing Triple Camera, that comprises of a 40-megapixel camera, 16-megapixel Ultra Wide-angle camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The Huawei Mate 30 Pro sports a quad-camera setup with the 40-megapixel Cine camera, 40-megapixel SuperSensing camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 3D depth sensing camera.
The SuperSensing Cine camera is a Dual-main camera system featuring a large 1/1.54-inch sensor size with a high maximum Video ISO of 51200 to capture videos with an extended dynamic range at 4K/60fps as well as ultra slow-motion at the highest 7680fps. It also supports 4K Low-light Ultra-wide time-lapse video. The Mate 30 Pro also offers pro-bokeh capabilities. Additionally, the second of the dual-camera system is a 1/1.7-inch Huawei SuperSensing camera attracts 40% more lights to deliver good photos even in low light conditions.
The 8-megapixel Telephoto lens offers 3x optical zoom, 5x Hybrid Zoom and up to 30x Digital Zoom. Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) + AI Stabilisation (AIS) and 3D Depth Sensing. The front-facing 3D Depth sensing camera delivers pro-bokeh effects with accurate depth-of-field information for selfies and portraits.
The Mate 30 comes with a 4200mAh battery, while Mate 30 Pro has an even bigger battery of 4500mAh. With TÜV Rheinland certified wired and wireless Huawei SuperCharge Technology, the 27W Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge and the 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge provide users safe and fast charging.
The 6.53-inch screen sized Mate 30 Pro and 6.62-inch screen sized HUAWEI Mate 30 come in Emerald Green, Space Silver, Cosmic Purple, Black, while Forest Green and Orange are available in vegan leather.
The Mate 30 Pro (5G) features 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage and is priced at EUR 1199. The non 5G version of the Mate 30 Pro will retail at EUR 1099. The Mate 30 will come with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and will retail for EUR 799. As of now, it is not clear about the availability of these devices in India.
