Xiaomi at an event in Beijing unveiled the new Redmi Note 8 series phones. There are two variants, the Redmi Note 8 and the Redmi Note 8 Pro. With the Pro variant being the top end of the two. The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the first smartphone to be powered by MediaTek G90T chipset. The phone comes in 6GB+64GB version and 8GB+128GB version. The highlight of the phone is the quad-camera setup that features the 64-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GW1, this sensor is also found in the Realme XT. Along with this, there is an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera, 2-megapixel depth sensor and 2-megapixel macro camera. The selfie camera is 20-megapixel. The phone features a 6.53-inch FHD+ display. The battery in the phone is 4500mAh and comes with 18W fast charging support.
The price of Redmi Note 8 Pro in China for the 6GB+64GB variant is 1399 Yuan, that translates to approximately Rs. 14,000 in India. The 8GB+128GB variant is priced at 1799 Yuan, that is approximately Rs. 18,000.
The other phone, Redmi Note 8 comes with Snapdragon 665 chipset and has a smaller screen size of 6.3-inch. The phone comes in 4GB+64GB storage, 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB options. The 4GB variant of Redmi Note 8 retails for 999 Yuan, approximately Rs. 10,000, the 6GB+64GB for 1199 Yuan that is Rs. 12,000 and the top end variant with 6GB+128GB costs Rs. 14,000 approximately.
The primary camera of Redmi Note 8 is different, it is 48-megapixel. Rest other three cameras are as found in the Redmi Note 8 Pro. The front selfie camera is 13-megapixel. The battery of Redmi Note 8 is smaller than the Pro version, it rates 4000mAh with 18W fast charging support.
Xiaomi has announced these phones in China and will be available from next month. In India, Xiaomi will launch Redmi Note 8 phones around Diwali, as per our speculations.
