Fitbit launches Versa 2, Aria Air and Premium subscription service

Versa 2
Fitbit, one of the leading manufacturers of lifestyle fitness products launched the upgrade to its existing Fitness watch, Versa, the Versa 2.

Versa 2 features a swim-proof design, has sleep features like Sleep Score and smart wake and comes with more advanced health, fitness, and smart features. Fitbit Versa 2 now supports Amazon Alexa and Spotify. One can use the digital assistant features via the on-device microphone. It also comes with Fitbit Pay, however, this feature is only applicable in the USA, Canada, Taiwan, and the UK. One can make phone-free payments at retailers and access seven transit systems worldwide, including New York MTA OMNY, TransLink in Vancouver, Transport for London (TfL) and Taiwan iPASS.

Versa 2 with Amazon Alexa
The new Fitbit Versa 2 is faster and come has an ecosystem of thousands of apps and clock faces. It also has a brighter, crisper display with an optional always-on mode. The new Fitbit Versa 2 now has Sleep score feature that provides you insight into your sleep quality via the Fitbit app. This score is based on heart rate (sleeping and resting), restlessness, time awake and Sleep stages. Another feature that will be rolling out to all Fitbit smartwatches is the Smart wake feature that uses machine learning to wake you during an optimal time of your sleep cycle. Besides this, there is sleep mode to silent notifications.

A coming soon feature on the Fitbit Versa 2 is the Estimated Oxygen Variation Graph, this graph will provide users with an estimate of the variability of oxygen levels in their bloodstream. The data is derived from a combination of the red and infrared sensors on the back of the device. Being aware of short-term variations in the oxygen levels in your bloodstream may indicate variations in your breathing during sleep.

Besides this, the Versa 2 features automatic activity tracking, PurePulse 24/7 heart rate tracking, 15+ goal-based exercise modes, connected GPS and water resistance up to 50 meters.

The Fitbit Versa 2 comes with a larger AMOLED display and boasts 2+ days of battery life. Fitbit also announced the Versa 2 Special Edition that features a premium jacquard woven band in navy and pink with a copper rose aluminum case or smoke with a mist grey case. All special edition devices will also come with a free three-month trial of the Fitbit Premium membership. Fitbit also announced various accessories for Versa 2. The Fitbit Versa 2 is priced at Rs. 20,999 in India.

Fitbit Aria
Along with Versa 2, Fitbit also announced the Aria Air smart scale. Fitbit Aria Air smart scale works on Bluetooth that tracks weight and syncs with the Fitbit app to calculate BMI. When combined with Fitbit’s wearable devices and new Fitbit Premium subscription service, Aria Air gives you access to added data, information. The Fitbit Aria Air smart scale is priced at Rs. 4,999.

Fitbit also introduced its Premium subscription service in the US, which provides customized health and fitness guidance based on your body, your choices and your goals. Premium gives you personalized insights about your activity, exercise, heart rate and sleep for guidance and improvement. This paid membership service will be available this fall for users in 17 countries starting at $9.99 (USD) a month or $79.99 (USD) a year.
