ASUS has unveiled the world’s first phone powered by Snapdragon 855 Plus, the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Phone II, the successor to the ROG Phone. As of now, this would be the best gaming phone that will be available. The phone comes with 12GB RAM and storage option of 128GB/512GB. The phone also features the world’s first 120Hz/1ms AMOLED 6.59-inch HDR display. Made especially for gaming, the phone features AirTrigger II ultrasonic sensor, Dual surround vibration technology and powerful front-facing stereo speakers. The second-generation GameCool II cooling system in ROG Phone II has a newly designed 3D vapor chamber that’s even more effective at removing heat from the phone for non-stop gaming. To keep the phone running cool, ASUS has incorporated a new AeroActive Cooler II that now comes with redesigned fan blades for more airflow. The new AeroActive Cooler II is also silent at 24dBA, that is 4X silent than the previous version.
A gaming phone is best enjoyed with the accessories it supports or comes with. Like the ROG phone, this successor also supports number of accessories like a TwinView Dock II for split screen live-streaming, extended game display or group communication. Besides this the ROG WiGig Display Dock Plus and Mobile Desktop Dock are also supported. There is also new modular ROG Kunai Gamepad. The newer version provides console-like gamepad controls featuring three components — the ROG Kunai Bumper, ROG Kunai Controllers and ROG Kunai Holder. The two-part Kunai Controllers can be attached to the Kunai Holder to create a standalone gamepad, or combined with the Kunai Bumper to add physical gamepad controls to ROG Phone II itself.
The dual-camera setup on the phone is 48-megapixel and 13-megapixel, the front camera is 24-megapixel. ROG Phone II features a large 6000mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. The phone achieves up to 66% charge in 58 minutes. The USB-C port for charging is located at the side, the phone also comes with 3.5mm audio port so gamers can use their preferred gaming headset.
