Foldable phone is the next big thing for smartphones and Sharp has announced their intention to commercialise it in the future. The Japanese company today showed off its prototype that interestingly, has a different folding mechanism. Unlike Huawei and Samsung’s solution that looks like a regular smartphone and transforms itself into a larger-sized tablet, the Sharp phone resembles a clamshell device that can be unfolded to reveal the larger display. Xiaomi also teased its foldable phone that can be folded on either sides.
Sharp says the new display is tested for 300,000 folds and will take a few years to commercialise it compared to Huawei and Samsung’s offerings that go on sale in the coming weeks.

To me this technology is a total waste, few may like it but it will surely fail. All a user needs a good chin less smartphone which works for more than 2 to 3 years.
