With media consumption on the rise, LG has devised an interesting way that promises to improve audio quality on its upcoming G8 ThinQ device. Dubbed Crystal Sound OLED (CSO), it is an innovative technology that takes advantage of the phone’s OLED display as an audio amplifier.
In other words, CSO makes the OLED display work as a diaphragm, thus vibrating the entire surface to produce sound. When using the loudspeaker mode, the audio is delivered via the bottom speaker.
LG says they have worked closely with their audio partner Meridian to fine-tune audio and support DTS:X 3D Surround Sound that emulates a 7.1-channel system, Hi-Fi Quad DAC, Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) and Boombox Speaker.
LG will show the G8 ThinQ at MWC in Barcelona, Spain later this month.
