Android Pie Go edition to come later this year

August 21, 2018 By Anish Leave a Comment

Google’s vision to offer full experience to entry-level Android phone users gave birth to Android Go edition. Taking this further, the current version of Android Pie (ver. 9) will also get its Go edition. Making further improvements from the Oreo Go edition, the next version will provide up to an additional 500MB of storage available out of the box, faster device boot time, verified boot and a dashboard for tracking and monitoring data consumption.

Besides this, there are already Go edition apps like YouTube Go, Maps Go, Google Go which will be redesigned and will be a part of the Android Pie Go edition OS.

These apps include unique features, like free downloading in YouTube Go, that aren’t found in the classic app. Maps Go now features navigation, making it possible for people with Go edition devices or unstable connections to use turn-by-turn directions. Files Go, which has saved users ~90TB of space since launch, is now capable of transferring data peer-to-peer, without using mobile data, at speeds up to ~490Mbps. Assistant Go now supports additional languages including Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Indonesian, and has expanded support for device actions like controlling Bluetooth, camera and flashlight, and added reminders. Android Messages App for Android (Go edition) is now ~50 percent smaller in size and the Phone App includes caller ID and spam detection.
