Amazon unveils Fire HD 10 Kids Edition tablet

Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition

Amazon launched the new Fire HD 10 Kids Edition. The tablet comes with 10.1-inch 1080p Full HD display, runs on quad-core processor and features 32GB storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD card). As per Amazon, the tablet offers 10 hours battery life.

With regards to the content for the kids, Amazon includes a year of Amazon FreeTime that offers more than 15,000 books, videos, educational apps and games for age-appropriateness. Besides this kids can access to selected websites and YouTube videos. After the first-year, Amazon FreeTime Unlimited subscription can be purchased for $2.99 per month (Prime members) and $4.99 per month who are not Prime members. The subscription can be used on Fire tablets, Kindle and Android phones.

To make kids handle the tablet worry-free, Amazon bundles a kid-proof case that is available in blue, pink and yellow colour. Amazon also offers a two-years guarantee on the tablet. One can just get the tablet replaced in case it breaks. The tablet also offers parental controls.

In terms of parental controls, Fire HD 10 Kids Edition offers time limits by weekdays and weekends. Parents can also set the device on and off time. One of the highlights also is the goal setting feature, in case your kids do not meet the educational goals, you can turn-off the entertainment options. There is also screen-time that switches off the tablet after its used for set hours. Additionally, Parent Dashboard provide new and helpful ways for parents to manage their child’s screen time and connect with them over the digital content they’re viewing in FreeTime. With Parent Dashboard, parents simply log-in to parents.amazon.com from any web browser to access their kids daily activity, manage time limits and educational goals. It also allows to remotely adjust the tablets FreeTime settings.

The all-new Fire HD 10 Kids Edition is available for pre-order starting today for $199.99 at www.amazon.com/FireHD10KidsEdition and starts shipping July 11. It is available in three colours – blue, pink, and yellow.
