Facial recognition is the new fad that every phone manufacturer is integrating into their phones after the introduction of 3D Facial ID tech by iPhone. However, this technology has been with Android since version 4. The face unlock feature on Android devices do not map the face in 3D, they simply capture the face using the front camera and use the same to unlock the phone. Recently the flagship phone, OnePlus 6 was fooled by a user who gave his device to his friend who used a print-out of his photo to unlock the device. OnePlus does mention that the face unlock feature is for convenience and is less secure and users should use other secured source like fingerprint or PIN.
