In addition to Apple TV 4K, another non-iPhone announcement to come out of Steve Jobs Theater yesterday was Apple Watch Series 3. The updated smartwatch can now work as a standalone device, thanks to the integration of cellular networks. It is integrated with an eSIM so users won’t have to insert or remove SIM cards every time they change the operator with the limitation being that it will work in limited countries. Currently, 10 countries will get the GPS + Cellular variant of the Apple Watch Series 3 whereas 28 countries will get the GPS-only variant. Users can receive messages, calls and the best part is that it will work with your existing number that is on the iPhone.
The watch now supports Apple AirPods that allows listening to music, speak to Siri and comes with a dual-core processor, faster W2 wireless chip that promises to make Wi-Fi 85 percent faster and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 50 percent power efficient.
The smartwatch runs watchOS 4 that features an updated Heart Rate app that offers a more detailed information.
Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS) starts at Rs. 29,900 whereas the Series 1 that will still be available in the market will sell for Rs. 21,900.
In addition to silver or space grey aluminium, Apple Watch Series 3 will come in a new gold aluminium, along with silver or space black stainless steel cases.
