Although iPhones were the main course in the Apple extragavanza yesterday, Apple did announce something for TV users as well. They have announced an updated Apple TV that can now play 4K HDR content. The best part about the announcement is the massive content library Apple has to offer through iTunes and is even working with partners like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Moreover, iTunes users will get automatic upgrades of HD titles in their existing iTunes library to 4K HDR versions when they become available, which should give a big boost to 4K media consumption.
The new Apple TV 4K is powered by A10X Fusion chip (the same SoC powers iPad Pro) that helps to output 4K HDR content without breaking a sweat. Apple says the device supports both Dolby Vision and HDR10 standards. Apple TV 4K also supports Siri, AirPlay.
The 4th generation Apple TV now sells for Rs. 12,900 whereas Apple TV 4K 32GB will sell for Rs. 15,900 and 64GB for 17,900 from September 15.
