Well, you read it right, Asus has announced the ZenFone AR for Rs.49,999. The ZenFone AR is Asus’s take on Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality that is Tango-enabled and Daydream-ready. The phone runs on Snapdragon 821 processor, although many flagship devices from other manufacturers have moved to Snapdragon 835, this seems to be a cost-cutting measure that ASUS has taken. In terms of storage and memory, the phone comes with 128GB internal storage and 8GB RAM.
ASUS has included the ASUS TriCam system, a three-camera system consisting of a 23MP main camera, motion-tracking camera, and depth-sensing camera. The camera can capture images in RAW format and also can shoot videos in 4K UHD. The phone comes with 5.7-inch WQHD Super AMOLED display and five-magnet speaker for Daydream VR apps, games and videos. The phone runs on Android Nougat 7.0, features 3300mAh battery which is modest for a phone of this size and specs. However, it supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 that can charge the phone 60% in 45 minutes.
The phone will be a Flipkart exclusive and will be offering Rs. 2,500 off on Google Daydream View VR Headset along with the purchase of ZenFone AR. Additionally, the consumer can avail no cost EMI offer up to 9 months.
Besides this, since now most of the phone comes with Jio data offer, this is also the same. Every Jio and Zenfone AR user will get up to 100GB additional 4G data and complimentary Jio Prime membership. The user can avail the additional 4G data in the form of one additional 10GB data voucher per recharge or Rs 309 or above, for a maximum of 10 recharges till March’18. This data is over and above the benefits of the pack.
Off-late ASUS has struggled to keep the sales of the ZenFone strong and has been getting strong competition from Xiaomi, Lenovo and OnePlus. Besides, it has also not priced its recent phones attractively.
