Phones with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 are still few and far but that doesn’t keep Qualcomm from announcing their upcoming SoC. Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 835 that is expected to ship in devices scheduled to release in H1 2017.
The upcoming SoC makes use of Samsung’s 10nm FinFET fabrication process, which means compared to 14mn chips, the Snapdragon 835 offers 27% better performance and up to 40% lower power consumption. Additionally, the chip will support Quick Charge 4 that claims to offer more than 5 hours of charging with only five minutes of charge and with Dual Charge – Qualcomm Technologies’ parallel charging technology – the phone can be charge up to 20 percent faster and up to 30 percent more efficiently compared with Quick Charge 3.0.
Qualcomm hasn’t divulged which new devices will be powered by the processor but it’s safe to say most flagship devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest chip.
