The much-awaited smartphones from Google, Pixel and Pixel XL were announced finally. Although the phone information was leaked before, the excitement was still on. To start with, the Pixel phones are first Google phones built by the company itself and features Google Assistant built in. This means you can now just ask the phone and get answers to your questions via voice commands. Besides this, Google says that the 12.3-megapixel camera of these phones is one of the best till date in a smartphone. It features an f/2.0 aperture and big 1.55 micron pixels to capture good amount of light. The front camera is 8-megapixel with fixed focus. The phones can record videos in 4K. Google also provides free unlimited storage to upload your photos and 4K videos in the cloud.
Some of the other common features of Pixel and Pixel XL are: both these phones are made of metal unibody and feature Gorilla Glass 4 for screen protection. Powered by Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB/128GB of internal storage, these phones also feature fingerprint sensor at the back. The phones use USB Type-C for charging and they can be powered up to 7 hours in just 15 minutes. Pixel phones are single SIM phones. Both these devices run on Android Nougat (7.1).
What separates Pixel and Pixel XL is the screen size and the battery. The Pixel features 5-inch full HD AMOLED screen at 441ppi and the Pixel XL features 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED screen at 534ppi. The Pixel battery is rated at 2700mAh and Pixel XL features 3450mAh.
The Pixel phones are available in Quite Black or Very Silver. The Pixel 32GB version is priced in India for Rs.57,000 and 128GB for Rs.67,000. The Pixel XL 32GB will be available for Rs.66,000 and 128GB for Rs.76,000. Pre-orders for the phone will begin from 13 October 2016.
