Lenovo first showcased the Moto Z and Moto Z Play at the Lenovo Tech World 2016. Launched today, the Moto Z is made from military aircraft-grade aluminium and stainless steel featuring a 5.5-inch HD Quad AMOLED display. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 820 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage supporting microSD cards up to 2TB.
The Moto Z comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and laser autofocus. It has the 5-megapixel front camera with front flash and wide angle lens. The device also features a fingerprint reader.
The phone runs on Android Marshmallow with 2600 mAh battery and charges up to 7 hours in just 15 minutes with the TurboPower feature. The Moto Z comes with water-repellant coating and keeps you protected from rain, splashes or spills. The Moto Z is a dual SIM phone with 4G VoLTE capabilities.
The other phone that it launched is the Moto Z Play. Powered by Snapdragon 625 processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage (expandable up to 2TB using microSD card). The screen size of Moto Z Play is 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED. The camera is 16-megapixel with laser autofocus and 5-megapixel front camera with LED flash. The battery is rated at 3500 mAh and gives 8 hours of use in just 15 minutes charge. This is also a 4G VoLTE phone with fingerprint reader.
Both the phones are modular and Motorola has launched Mods for the phones to be used with. The Moto Mods magnetically attach to Moto Z and Moto Z Play adding advanced functionality to the phones. For instance, with the JBL SoundBoost Mod you can enhance the sound of the phone or with the Moto Insta-Share Projector you can project a movie up to 70-inch size.
