We have had our fair share of PCs and laptops coming for review on Tech Ticker but a workstation like Lenovo’s ThinkStation P700 is another beast. On paper, the PC packs a punch but is the hefty price tag worth it? Let’s find out.
Most of the workstations available in the market are clunky and not-so well designed and though the P700 is clunky, the design of the ThinkStation is well thought out. The front has a mesh-grille along with a flex module that hosts ports like USB 3.0, card reader, 3.5mm headphone jack and a DVD drive and be mixed and matched according to your preference. There’s also a handle on the front that makes it easier to carry and move.
One of the biggest advantages of the P700 ThinkStation is how customisable the machine is. Press a button on the right side and plops open the case. The case has a neat diagram stuck to it that reveals different innards and a modular design that makes upgrading the machine really easy.
On the performance side, our review unit was fitted with Intel’s Xeon processor, 32GB of RAM and Nvidia Quadro K5200 GPU, and needless to say the PC performs extremely well. The P700 also features tri-channel cooling with 3 system fans that helps to keeps the workstation cool and quiet.
All said and done, The P700 is a powerful workstation that delivers on the performance and makes it easy to upgrade in the future, thanks to the modular design.
The ThinkStation sells in India for Rs. 5,45,100.
