Mark your calendars! Microsoft has confirmed the release date of its Windows 10 operating system. The OS that was available only as a preview, will be released on July 29 globally. It will run out of the box on new computers bought on or after July 29 or existing users can upgrade from the same date. Microsoft is also offering an olive branch to eligible Windows 7 and Windows 8 users to upgrade to the latest OS for free.
Windows 10 brings in a lot of new features and optimisations to make it work on aging PCs as well.
The OS comes with Cortana, Windows’ personal digital assistant; Microsoft Edge aka the next-generation Internet Explorer browser; universal Office apps supported on Windows 10; Windows Hello biometric authentication; Windows Continuum for smooth transition from a bigger screen to smaller or vice versa; and new photos, videos, music, maps, people, mail & calendar apps.
