HTC’s co-founder and chairwoman will replace Peter Chou to become the new CEO of the company. The move comes after Chou failed to turn the tables for HTC due to declining smartphone sales and intense competition.
Speaking to Bloomberg, Wang suggested her name to the board considering she knows the company, people and the vision.
Peter Chou will now concentrate to become the head of the HTC Future Development Lab that will work on the future devices from HTC.
HTC was the first player when Google announced the first ever Android smartphone but it started slipping down the road once Samsung started eroding its market share thanks to the success of its Galaxy S series phones and a big marketing campaign.
