There was a period when Creative product launches dried up in the Indian market. However, in the last one year or so, the Singapore-based company has come back strong and this time with it’s new line of speakers. It’s the Muvo 20 from the Muvo line we’re taking a look today and this is what we think.
The Muvo range is targeted at mobile users and it’s evident with the host of connectivity options and simple to use design. It’s a wireless speaker that supports Bluetooth 4.0 and even sports a NFC port on the top that allows easier one-touch pairing with NFC-enabled devices. The speaker can even connect to a non-Bluetooth device through the aux-in port located at the back.
The design of the Muvo 20 is different too. The front panel features a baffle tilt that Creative claims helps for better audio dispersion and the grille of the speaker is designed differently that sets it apart from the sea of portable speakers available in the market. As for the placements, the Muvo 20 has a Bluetooth and Volume +/- buttons on the front whereas the power, aux-in port, microUSB port and a regular USB 2.0 port tucked at the back. The regular USB port can even charge mobile devices.
As far as performance goes, the Muvo 20 offers a decent quality output. The audio is loud enough, thanks to its 3-inch drivers. However, we feel the bass could be better. The Muvo 20 has a built-in mic for hands-free calls and we were surprised the speaker could pick our voice clearly from a distance. Creative rates 10 hours of battery life on a single charge and in our tests, we got close to around 8-8.5 hours.
One thing that works against the Muvo 20 is the lack of good bass but when you look at the speaker as a whole package, the Muvo 20 offers a good bang for the buck. It retails for about Rs. 5,500 on online retail stores.
Rating:
Pros: Good design, easy to use
Cons: Underwhelming bass
