Sony has expanded its wearable range with two new additions – the SmartBand Talk and the SmartWatch 3. Building on the first generation SmartBand, the SmartBand Talk now allows users to talk through the integrated microphone and speakers. It will still need to be tethered to a smartphone but users will be able to enjoy the HD Voice support and Sony Voice Control technology.
The SmartBand Talk is equipped with a 1.4-inch e-paper display that improves overall battery life, IP68 rated for water resistance comes with a new accelerometer and altimeter sensor to accurately predict user’s daily physical activity.
The SmartBank Talk will be available later this year.
SmartWatch 3 now runs Android Wear, making it the first smartwatch from Sony to run on Google’s wearable platform. Now that the software part is being handled by Google, Sony is concentrating on the hardware, which now comes with a 1.6-inch 320×320 TFT LCD Transflective display, IP68 rating for water resistance, microUSB port, 4GB internal memory, GPS, compass, accelereometer and a gyro sensor.
