UPDATE: We’ve heard from Videocon and their tentative launch timeline will be in 8-10 months. The initial price of the set-top box will be around Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000.
Owning a 4K TV is futile if you don’t have content to enjoy on its high-resolution display. Thankfully, Videocon realises that and have announced the 4K Ultra HD DTH service for its Videocon d2h subscribers in India.
The details are minimum at the moment but a DTH operator getting on the 4K bandwagon is certainly good news for 4K TV manufacturers and consumers.
For the uninitiated, 4K Ultra HD resolution comprises of 3840 pixels × 2160p lines (8.3 megapixels, aspect ratio 16:9). UHD has twice the horizontal and vertical resolution & four times as many pixels overall as compared to the 1080p HDTV format. This technology enables image clarity with fine detail, greater texture, thus enabling a more immersive experience.
