Head over to any online retailer website and you’ll find the website beaming with battery packs in all sizes, capacity and price. The latest entrant to the burgeoning power bank market is PowerSafe’s range of power bank.
The range consists of three battery packs – PB 5600, PB 8400 and PB 10400 with the numbers, understandably, signifying the battery capacity. We’re taking a look at the 10400mAh variant.
The PowerSafe battery pack is pocketable and has a decent design with the coloured sides, giving users an option to personalise their battery pack. Placement-wise, there are four LEDs and a power button on the top while the side has two USB ports – allowing to charge two devices at once, microUSB port to charge the battery pack and a small LED light that acts as a torch.
The battery pack is fairly easy to use. Just plug in the device and you can charge two devices at once. Both USB ports have different current output with the first USB port capable of charging at 1.5A and the second capable of charging at 2.1A. If your phone supports higher voltage, you may charge with the second USB port for a faster charge. Long pressing the power button activates the torch, making it a handy add on to have. The biggest advantage of this PowerSafe offering however, is the option to charge almost any gadget you have. The battery pack is bundled with small connectors ranging from a normal microUSB to miniUSB to Nokia thin tip to PSP to Apple’s 30-pin and Lightning for iPhone 5.
PB 10400 sells for Rs. 4,499, which we feel is a bit on the higher side considering a similar 1000mAh battery pack goes at around Rs. 3,500. The only distinguishing factor is the variety of connectors that PowerSafe bundles.
Rating:
Pros: Good capacity, Variety of connectors
Cons: Pricier than the competition
