As expected, Microsoft has completed the acquisition of Nokia devices business, marking the end of iconic Nokia branded smartphones. The Nokia devices team will now be known as Microsoft Mobile Oy that will manufacture and distribute Lumia, Asha and Nokia X mobile phones and other devices and will be a subsidiary to Microsoft Corp.
Former Nokia President and CEO Stephen Elop will report directly to Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella and will serve as executive vice president of the Microsoft Devices Group.
In September last year, Microsoft announced to acquire Nokia’s Devices & Services business for more than 5.44 billion euros in cash.
