Qualcomm today announced the expansion of its top-end Snapdragon 800 processor family with the all new 808 and 810 processors. These next-generation processors are expected to be in retail devices in 2015 and will bring in 64-bit processing along with other features.
Both processors are based on 20nm process technology and integrate Qualcomm’s 4th gen Cat 6 LTE modem with the 808 supporting a display resolution of up to 2K (2560×1600). It also features Adreno 418 that is said to be 20 percent better in performance compared to Adreno 330, LPDDR3 memory and 4K external display support via HDMI 1.4.
The star of today’s announcement however, is the 810. This chipset supports 4K UHD resolution, LPDDR4 memory support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac VIVE 2-stream support, Bluetooth 4.1 and Adreno 430 that boosts up to 30 percent better performance compared to Adreno 420.
