After a series of leaks, HTC has officially announced the new One flagship phone in US today. HTC is calling the device One (M8) that steps up from the predecessor – the HTC One (M7) with improved hardware along with improved software features.
The HTC One (M8) is crafted out of a high-quality metal unibody and features tapered edges for a better grip. It’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 2.5GHz quad-core processor and boasts two UltraPixel cameras at the back (aka Duo Camera) along with 5MP on the front. The Duo Camera is also complemented with a depth sensor and software enhancements like UFocus that allows to change the focus after the image has been captured, Dimension Plus that gives a “unique perspective” of the captured image from a different angle by simply tilting the screen, 300ms autofocus speed and HD Slow Motion mode.
The phone runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and features HTC’s latest Sense 6 UI with a louder BoomSound, improved BlinkFeed with an SDK for app developers to take advantage of, pre-loaded Fitbit app that uses the phone’s sensor hub, Sense TV, Motion Launch and power saving mode. Motion Launch detects the phone’s position and movement to interact with the phone while the extreme power saving mode will make the battery last 40% longer.
HTC also announced the Dot View case for the HTC One (M8) that extends Motion Launch’s functionality.
While India will get the HTC One (M8) in the coming weeks, the Taiwanese phone maker has already started selling in few countries.
