Lechal has really evolved since the last time two Indian techies – Krispian Lawrence and Anirudh Sharma showed off their creation as a tool for visually impaired individuals. Fast forward to today; Lechal expands its capability from being an aid to visually challenged individuals to a fully blown lifestyle product.
Lechal or “take me there” in Hindi is a blend of technology with footwear that will enable users to navigate locations, track their steps, record and share their own navigation path and do lots more. It works in conjunction with an app that is compatible with Android, iOS or Windows and communicates with them over Bluetooth.
Ducere will initially launch Lechal as an insole that can be worn with any pair of shoes but will soon expand to offer Lechal integrated shoes as well.
There’s no word on the exact price but the Lechal insoles will be priced at around Rs. 6,000 with pre-orders starting from March 7, 2014.
