Setting up a conference room with all the video and audio conferencing amenities can be an expensive affair and Google is trying to lower the cost with its new Chromebox for meetings solution.
Chromebox for meetings makes video and audio conferencing simple with Google+ Hangouts and Google Apps. Each room is fitted with a Chromebox with an Intel Core i7 processor, a high-definition camera, a microphone and speaker unit and a remote control that also doubles up as a QWERTY keyboard.
Google says users won’t have to insert PINs or passcodes and up to 15 participants can join in the meeting from any part of the globe, provided he has a smartphone and a Google account.
Chromebox for meetings is currently available only in US at a price of $999 and Asus will be offering the first hardware followed by Dell and HP in the coming months.
Google plans to launch the solution later this year in Australia, Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and UK.
