ZTE has developed a few concept devices and was showcasing at the CES 2014. The one we’re talking about here is the Eco-Mobius. It’s a modular phone and a reddot design award winning concept. Eco-Mobius consists of four independent modules: LCD, core, camera, and battery. The LCD module understandably includes the screen while the core module consists of a removable CPU, GPU, ROM, RAM and so on.
The basic motive of a device like Eco-Mobius is to make smartphones easily repairable and upgradable, if need be. The four modules can be easily disassembled and assembled through a sliding track design.
As I mentioned, the Eco-Mobius is a concept and a real production unit does not seem to be available in the near future.
