Samsung’s ever growing Galaxy has got a new member – the Galaxy Core Advance. Samsung is trying to build on the previous year’s Galaxy Core device with a slightly revamped design that features a soft feel coated back cover and a plethora of physical buttons for those wary of the touchscreen display. The phone boasts physical keys like menu, home, back and dedicated keys for voice recorder, camera, volume, menu, home and power functions.
Samsung also touts Galaxy Core Advance usability and enhanced accessibility features for the disabled and visually impaired users. The phone supports Optical Scan that automatically reads aloud the detected text on the image, Light Sensing technology that uses the device’s camera to sense light direction and brightness, Instant Voice Recorder to take quick voice notes, Screen Curtain to operate commands on a black screen that gives improved privacy, high quality TTS (Text-to-Speech) functionality and Voice Guided Camera functions to help users take pictures by reading out the number of faces detected and their standing location.
As much as the software is appealing, the Galaxy Core Advance fails to lure on the hardware front as it has a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, HSPA support, 4.7-inch WVGA TFT Display, 5MP main camera, front-facing VGA camera, 8GB internal memory, microSD card slot up to 64GB, 2000mAh battery.
Samsung will showcase the device at the CES next month and will sell in Deep Blue and Pearl White colours from early next year.
