Qualcomm has expanded its Snapdragon family with a new chipset – the Snapdragon 410. The new chipset is aimed at smartphones in emerging markets like China, India and is the first Snapdragon SoC to support 64-bit processing.
We don’t have the mobile software yet (except the iOS) to take advantage of the 64-bit processing but it’s good to know Qualcomm is ready with the hardware.
The Snapdragon 410 is manufactured using 28nm process technology and integrates 4G LTE World Mode that brings in support for 4G LTE and 3G frequency bands across the globe. Furthermore, the chipset is equipped with Adreno 306 GPU, 1080p video playback, up to 13 megapixel camera support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM and NFC.
Snapdragon 410 also supports GPS, GLONASS and China’s BEiDou and is compatible with OSes like Android, Firefox and Windows Phone.
Qualcomm will sample the Snapdragon 410 processor in first half of next year with commercial devices expected sometime in second half of 2014.
