Zync has launched a new smartphone in the sub Rs. 5,000 market. The Cloud Z401 is priced at Rs. 4,499 and brings in hardware like a 1GHz processor, 256MB RAM, 4-inch display with WVGA resolution, microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2MP front and front-facing camera and 1300mAh battery.
However, despite a decent hardware set, Zync has decided to load Android 2.3 OS with an ICS UI overlay. The decision to go for an older OS is certainly to keep the cost down but given the fact that there are devices that run Android 4.1 or at least Android 4.0 albeit with a compromise on the hardware in the same price range, convincing consumers to go for Zync could a tough ask.
