Working on to bringing Steam to the living room, Valve’s third announcement after the SteamOS and Steam Machine is the Steam Controller. The controller is not an average-looking controller but in fact packs in a lot of features. As evident, the controller sports dual trackpads, which Valve claims to be really smooth and accurate with resolution comparable to a desktop mouse. The controller has added haptics to improve feedback performance and even a touchscreen display along with sixteen buttons, half of which can be accessed without requiring the gamer to lift the thumbs from the trackpads.
The best part is the compatibility of the controller with the complete Steam catalog, including older titles where controller gets recognised as a keyboard and a mouse.
Valve will give a chance for some gamers to try the controller in a beta program next year. They haven’t announced any info on the release.
