Amazon has introduced its third-generation Kindle Fire tablet – Kindle Fire HDX. The tablet features the beefier hardware along with the latest version of Fire OS – Fire OS 3.0 “Mojito”, new features and services like X-Ray for Music, Second Screen, Prime Instant Video downloads and Mayday button.
The Kindle Fire HDX is equipped with a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and comes with a 7-inch or an 8.9-inch display option supporting a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and 2560×1600 pixels respectively. Furthermore, the tablet is equipped with 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity, 8MP rear-facing camera, up to 11 hours of mixed use battery life and up to 17 hours of reading battery life and the revolutionary Mayday button that sits in the Quick Settings menu to connect to an Amazon executive in case of some issue with the tablet.
Amazon calls the v3.0 of the Fire OS as Mojito that brings faster access to apps, easier content management, Second Screen support and more.
The 7-inch Kindle Fire HDX is priced at $229 and will ship from October 18. The 4G version will go for $329 and begin shipping from November 14.
The Wi-Fi-only 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX is $379 with a shipping date from November 7. The 4G version sells for $479 with shipping from December 10. All the variants are available for pre-order today.
