MHL Consortium, the association behind the MHL standard that you find in so many smartphones, tablets and other devices these days just announced the third iteration of its MHL specification. The new specification will enable supported devices to show content in up to 4K resolution and even offer a wider colour gamut for improved picture quality.
The new specification also supports bi-directional channel to enable concurrent 4K video and high-speed peripheral support of mass storage and input devices such as a touch screen, keyboard and mouse.
Furthermore, MHL 3.0 promises zero lag when it comes to mobile gaming, enhanced 7.1 surround sound with Dolby and lots more.
MHL will release the latest specification in early September, which means it could be at or around the IFA.
