LG today announced that their upcoming Optimus G smartphone will feature Qualcomm’s top-end Snapdragon 800 processor. LG is playing coy as to which Optimus G’s successor will get the upgrade – Optimus G or the Optimus G Pro but we feel it will be the former since the Optimus G is powered by Qualcomm’s previous generation processor while the Optimus G Pro runs on Snapdragon 600.
The Snapdragon 800 will bring improved clock speed up to 2.3GHz and faster LTE speeds along with a superior Adreno 330 GPU. The chip also supports video playback and capture to up to 4K resolution, Dolby Digital Plus support, 1080p HD Miracast and lots more.
