We’ve seen technology advancing in today’s smartphones but camera technology has lagged in terms of speed compared to other features. Sure, there’s Nokia PureView 808 but the area has a lot of scope for improvement. Today, Samsung attempts to do their bit by announcing the Galaxy S4 Zoom. Understandably, it’s a part of Samsung’s expanding Galaxy S4 family but boasts a 16 megapixel camera sensor with a 10X optical zoom. It’s probably a first for Android smartphone but Samsung has already dabbled with the OS in Galaxy Camera.
The Zoom Ring at the back is pivotal for the camera to function as it allows users to zoom in or out of the picture, rotating it will activate the camera and even help send an MMS to the person on call with the In-Call Photo Share. On the camera front, it’s a 16MP CMOS BSI sensor with OIS, F/3.1-F6.3 support, Xenon flash and a 1.9MP front-facing camera.
Round up the feature set is Android 4.2 OS, 1.5GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB RAM, LTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, 8GB internal memory with up to 5GB usable, microSD card slot and 2330mAh battery.
The phone will also come with TouchWiz UI, S Voice, S Translator, ChatON, Samsung Hubs, Story Album, Trip Advisor etc.
